Cricket's First Menu! is the 7th episode of the series and the 4th complete episode of the first season when combined with the previous episode; Dazzle's Cake-tastrophe!. It was released on November 15, 2018 on Nickelodeon US and Nick Jr. globally and on January 13, 2019 on Treehouse in Canada.
Summary/Description[]
It's the first time Cricket has planned a café lunch menu, but with Ms. Marmalady having her monkey aides steal the box of ketchup from the café pantry which is meant to be eaten with fries as part of the meal combinations, will the bean team, with or without Jasper, come up with ketchup of their own to save the fate of the lunch menu's success?
Plot[]
Butterbean and Cricket entered the café and greeted the bean team whiles Jasper entered the room. As she entered the small room to put on her worksuit, her little sister asks in a begging tone if she can plan the day's lunch menu, to which she approved. First, she didn't hear her saying yes, but when she asked if she did, she screamed with excitement – probably flying over Dazzle's head.
Butterbean linked her tablet to the screen to show what Cricket says for her menu. Cricket says it's easy planning a good lunch menu as her big sister says needs to have a few different yummy and healthy things that go well together. First, she inputed carrot sticks and apple juice. Next, she planned to serve little baby hamburgers which Butterbean corrected her as sliders. The latter told her it's almost done as she just need a side dish that will go well with the sliders. Cricket came up with baked sweet potato fries (potato chips outside North America) with ketchup. Her big sister remarked it as "a fairy good" lunch menu and thinks customers would love it, after which she and her little sister giggle.
As Cricket draws the lunch menu on the small café board, Ms. Marmalady wonders what she is so happy about, so she summoned her spyglass to see for herself. She reads the menu to herself; the monkeys contemplate how fries with ketchup make them happy. That gave her the idea of removing the ketchup from the café's tables so Butterbean would serve nothing to serve on their fries. The monkeys pretended to be sad for that which Ms. Marmalady bought into, and continued her scheme of her being the queen of the lunch scene if the ketchup were to be in their café which the monkeys saw as happy. She then tasked the monkeys to go into the café and take every bottle of ketchup they had; they accepted and left. Cricket continued drawing but added song to liven herself up. She heard Spork uttering a yum-hum but turned around to see no-one as they sped out of sight just in time. She went back to singing and drawing as the monkeys headed inside the café and schemed their way silently into the pantry. They saw the box of ketchup and slided it out of the café whiles making sure they didn't expose themselves to either any of the bean team members or the customers whiles taking every ketchup bottle on the café tables. They finally and easily got past Cricket who was done drawing the menu and went inside. Upon entering their café, Ms. Marmalady asked if they had gotten all the ketchup, which they affirmed, and told them to take it to the kitchen and begin making the fries. She said to herself she'll get to work on her own lunch board and let out a scheming laugh. After Spork and Spatch settled the box down, the former asked what they used to make the fries; the latter replied tomatoes. They took tomatoes and tried compressing them but they rather soiled themselves with tomato liquid. Spatch suggested they should try another one.
Mrs. Schruder came to the café, saw and remarked what she thought was Butterbean's lunch menu, which Butterbean rightly pointed out to Cricket. She saw it as impressive, after which Mr. Garbaggio asked for ketchup. Butterbean agreed and she and her little siste looked at each table to see no bottle of ketchup on them. She asked her little sister if she has seen one and she negated. Calls for ketchup from the customers put doubt on the sisters' minds until Dazzle told Cricket where the ketchup was whiles making a call. Cricket told Mr. Garbaggio (who she calls "sir") she'll be back with the ketchup, invoking a giggle out of her big sister, but upon entering the pantry and turning on the light, she saw it out of sight for herself and wondered where the box went. Returning to the main café area, she made Butterbean aware of it and the latter saw it as weird but Dazzle called her to see what she's seeing before she could ask where the box could be. The girls looked surprised and horified to see Ms. Marmalady have her fries with ketchup on her menu with Cricket in particular citing it as a blind copy. The calls for ketchup from the customers returned and it was clear who took the ketchup. Cricket made this known in her interaction with the viewer(s) citing the day as "the worst day ever" and also added the no-one can have fries without ketchup. Whiles Cricket saw the calls from customers for ketchup and wondered what to do, Poppy suggested they make some themselves; listing the ingredients used to make it and sent Jasper to get 2 boxes each of a dozen of farm tomatoes he brought that morning. Butterbean saw this as a great idea and Poppy affirmed Cricket's doubt about her making fresh ketchup with a giggle. Butterbean admitted not thinking this through before with the viewer(s) but commended Poppy's cooking as "saving the day" and her loving her crew (or the bean team).
Spork and Spatch between them lamented they had all the tomatoes "broken" with former seeing it as "sad", after which Ms. Marmalady calling out how the fries are coming and if they had enough potatoes. The monkeys turned to see them in boxes and realized thier mistake. Ms. Marmalady came to the café, saw and heard calls for ketchup from the customers and whispered loudly in a Pddlebrook inhabitant voice after clearing her throat that she heard there were lots and lots of ketchup at Marmalady's before sneaking back to hers, letting out a silent scheming laugh. The customers rushed out of the café with glee with the sisters and Dazzle chasing after them and wondering why, which they got their answer from a female customer. They stopped running and began despairing as they watched them making themselves comfortable at Marmalady's Café where the monkeys brought out the ketchup. Butterbean however took out her whisk and cheered the girls up, saying that lunch isn't over yet and that they should be making the ketchup. They did the teamwork hand cheer and made the ketchup with Poppy and Jasper accompanied by the "Let's Get Cooking!" tune. Cricket took a chip/fry and tried the fresh ketchup for herself. Butterbean then added the fairy finish with a glitter/glow bean to make the ketchup glow, after which she told her team to quickly fill the bowls with the ketchup.
Customers now at Marmalady's Café are calling for fries to eat with the ketchup and Ms. Marmalady had Spork and Spatch bring them in bowls. One customer took a bite and got disgusted at it being raw with another commenting on it as not cooked and it dawned on Ms. Marmalady that the monkeys have neither cutted nor cooked the potatoes. Spork saw their big mistake as "something bad" and the customers began filing out slowly citing raw/uncooked and uncut potatoes. Ms. Marmalady tried to convince them to return as they can have it with her delicious ketchup, but her day is summed up when the monkeys accidentally sprayed her body (including her face) with ketchup before stepping away, leaving her crying out of fate. Cricket met the customers with a platter of fries and a bowl of ketchup and convince them to return whiles also adding no-one can have fries without ketchup. After Mrs. Schruder first followed by the rest saw, tasted and appealed to the taste of both, they rushed back to the café with Cricket looking puzzled at first, but deloighted when they entered. At the café, one customer commented lavishly on the fries invoking a giggle out of the sisters. Butterbean summed up the days events in the background to the viewer(s). Cricket loudly thought of being a chef someday with her big sister assuring her of that as long as she "ketchup", taking out ketchup and pun on her, which they laughed to end the episode.
